With over one billion active monthly users, Instagram is fast becoming a hub for customers and businesses alike. If you’re eager to expand your online audience and are considering setting up an Instagram profile for your business, follow these five simple steps:

  1. Download the application –

This one is fairly straight forward. Just head over to the app store on your chosen device and download the Instagram app.

  1. Create a new account or sign in to your existing account –

Instagram does not allow users to just create a business account. Once you have opened the Instagram application, you’ll need to sign in to your existing account or create a new one if you do not currently have a profile.

  1. Switch to business –

Once signed in, you can then switch your Instagram account from a normal profile to a business one. This is achieved by:

  • Going to your prolife and tapping on the menuin the top right corner.
  • Tap on
  • Tap on account, then tap switch to professional account and select business.
  • Fill out the form by adding your personal business details and selecting a category that best suits your business, making it easier for customers to contact you.
  • Tap done once finished.

  1. Edit your profile –

Here, you can update, add or hide details about your business. For example, you may want to think of a short bio that best explains the product/service that your business offers. You can also choose a location that shows where your business operates in, helping to attract more local customers. If you would like to hide business details, you can:

  • Go to your profile and tap edit profile.
  • Select profile display under public business information.
  • Choose if you would like to hide or display your category label and contact information.
  • Tap done once finished.

  1. Enjoy the app and build your content –

Your Instagram account will now be operating as a business profile, and you can start to take advantage of the extra features available, such as running ads through Instagram or adding swipe up links to your stories. Begin building your content on Instagram through grid posts, IGTV’s, reels and even guides. With a business account, you’ll also be able to access insights and the professional dashboard, all within your profile in the app. This will allow you to track your performance and gain an understanding of who is engaging with your business on Instagram.
