Celebrating VE Day with Bellway Homes

The Aim

The goal of the VE Day event at Chilsey Grange was to bring the local community together in a meaningful way that celebrated heritage, honoured the significance of the day, and built positive awareness of the Chertsey development.

It was important to create an event that felt authentic and inclusive rather than overly promotional.  The intention was to position Bellway not just as a homebuilder, but as an invested and thoughtful contributor to the community.

The Process

The focus was on creating an event that would resonate with both residents and visitors.

The team carefully curated each detail to reflect the historical importance of the occasion. Coordination involved close collaboration between site teams, marketing, and local performers, all working together to deliver a seamless community experience.

Key elements included:

  • Period-style singers to evoke the spirit of VE Day.
  • Thoughtful decor and event styling aligned with the tone of remembrance and celebration.
  • Professional photography to capture the day and support future content use across various channels.

The Results

Successful Event Execution
The VE Day celebration was a resounding success, with seamless coordination and strong engagement. The thoughtful styling and authentic atmosphere struck the perfect tone, being culturally respectful without being overly sales focused.

Enhanced Visibility
The event generated excellent visibility, with professional photography and a UGC video performing strongly on social media. The striking imagery helped shine a national spotlight on the Chertsey development, while additional value was identified in using the content for a community-focused emailer, extending reach and engagement beyond the event itself.

Client Satisfaction
Positive feedback from both attendees and internal teams confirmed it was a standout community event.

Lisa Hill, Regional Marketing Manager at Bellway said: “We just wanted to say that we love the pics of your VE Day event at Chilsey Grange!

“Well done for setting it all up and pulling it all together – you did a fab job and it was all culturally appropriate, not too sales focused which is often a hard balance to get right with community events. I loved the singers, they looked fab! I hope it was well received by customers. Thanks again – look forward to seeing the next one.”

The VE Day celebration has also been suggested to be used as a reference point across other divisions of the company, providing inspiration for future community-led initiatives.
